- Studying Electronics Engineering (B.S.E.E. for now, hopefully an M.S.E.E.). Started with an HP48SX and wrote a bunch of utilities, etc.; some games. You may know some of my programs like "Tenk", "Pyramid Solitaire", "Biorithm", "CodeLock", etc. I think about the only one that's still in use actively is CodeLock (modified a number of years ago by another programmer). When the 48GX came out, there were very few development tools, and many of the comp.sys.hp48 group at that time were hacking away at the internals (using Voyager, etc.). HP released some development tools for DOS and away we went. PySol was about my only ASM/SysRPL development and it took me ages to write it. The tools were rather cumbersome, IMO. About a month before the release of the 50g, I decided to "dive in" and buy an HP49g+ as the reported keyboard problem was supposedly fixed. With the release of the 50g, I'm frantically studying the internals and all of the documentation. I'm learning Debug4x and want my first project to be a version of this cool laser-based board game I got for my birthday--Deflexion. Should be a good challenge. Electronics interests involve wrapping a microcontroller around precision and/or high-power analog circuits (audio amplifiers, etc.); would love to maybe write a SPICE simulator for the 50g. Finally, with the serial port on the 50g, I hope to interface to devices like my Fluke 189, etc., or maybe even make a ROM programmer via the HP50g.

- BA in Studio Art (UCR 1987), passed the NTE in math and work as a high school math teacher. I am way below the level of the people that really use the machine. Occasionally (since July) I read the comp.sys.hp48 group and check Google groups. I have the HP 38G, 48G, 49G, 49G+, 39G+(blue) 9G, and now 50G. I didn't realize the 50G was the 49G+ with serial port. I just saw it on the Sam's club site and ordered it for the start of school this year. I have an addiction to buying calculators but have avoided the Casio models. I have tried to stay current so I can help kids who may have different models. Unfortunately TI owns practically every backpack at my school--so I have all the TI calculators too. I can't stop myself. Mostly I write very small scripts for using formulas and the like.

al.arduengo (exal)

BSEE (1998), Currently employed at TI in Dallas with the HPA division, Plug-in Power group. I have been using HP calcs since 1992. I have written a lot of stuff that never made it to the public. One thing I wrote that seemed to be relatively successful was the exal spreadsheet program. I am working on a better version right now for the 49G+/50G series. I love Linux, HP calcs, astronomy, and amateur and shortwave radio. My call is KE5GCD. I like to write HP programs on request. One chap from California paid me a couple of hundred dollars to write a set of utilities to enable him to track his investments on his HP48S. And I didn't even ASK for payment! I was a starving student at the time :-). Anyway, feel free to make requests and I will do what I can to help. al.arduengo@gmail.com
